Where to Get Reiki in Medellín: An Honest Guide

By Uber Puerta · Published

How to choose where to receive Reiki in Medellín: types of space, what to ask, red flags and what to expect by neighbourhood. Write with any question.

Where to Get Reiki in Medellín: An Honest Guide

In Medellín you will find Reiki in four kinds of place: integrative therapy clinics, spas and wellness centres, holistic centres, and independent private practices. None is better by definition. What decides the experience is not the venue or the neighbourhood. It is who receives you, how they explain what they are about to do, and whether you feel safe in the room.

This is not a list of the best centres. It is what I would look at if I had to choose today.

Why there is no ranking here

I could write "the seven best Reiki centres in Medellín" and it would probably get more traffic.

I am not going to, for two reasons.

The first is that I have no way to evaluate other practitioners' work. I have not been in their sessions. A list like that would be an opinion dressed as a criterion.

The second is that "best of" lists almost always hide something: an exchange, a friendship, or a place left out for reasons nobody explains.

I would rather give you the criteria. With them you can assess any place in the city, including mine.

The four kinds of space

Type of spaceHow it usually worksAdvantageWhat to watch
Integrative therapy clinicBooked appointment, intake questions, clinical roomClear framing and orderly protocolCan feel cold; sometimes several therapies compressed into one visit
Spa or wellness centreReiki inside a menu of servicesConvenience, wide hours, easy bookingReiki may be a secondary service and the session short
Holistic centreSeveral practitioners under one roofVariety and a sense of communityAsk who is seeing you, not just the centre's name
Private practiceIndependent practitioner, own room or home visitsContinuity: always the same personCheck privacy, framing and clarity of price

No row here is a verdict. I have known spas where the session is careful, and very serious centres where Reiki is filler in the schedule.

What the table gives you is the right question for each case.

At an integrative clinic, ask who will do the session and what their training is. In multi-practitioner centres you are sometimes assigned by availability. Ask how long the session on the table lasts, not the whole appointment.

At a spa, ask whether Reiki is given by someone specifically trained in Reiki, or whether it is part of a massage therapist's repertoire. There is nothing wrong with one person doing both. There is something wrong with not saying so.

At a holistic centre, ask about the person, not the centre. The name of the place says nothing about whose hands will rest on you.

At a private practice, ask for the full name, look for a coherent public presence, and confirm the address and conditions before going.

Where to look, without anyone selling you anything

There are directories where you can compare on your own. I mention them because they exist and are useful, not because I recommend anyone in particular.

Doctoralia Colombia lists Reiki practitioners in Medellín with visible prices and user reviews. It is where the city's price spread is clearest.

AgendaPro and similar booking platforms show wellness centres with online availability, which helps with scheduling and location.

Google Maps gives you what directories do not: real photos of the space and reviews from people who were there. Read the three-star ones. They tend to be the most informative.

A note on reviews: in energy therapies they skew heavily towards enthusiasm. People with a lukewarm experience rarely write. Read them for concrete descriptions — length, treatment, the room — rather than adjectives.

I gathered the city's reference prices in how much a Reiki session costs in Medellín.

What to ask before booking, anywhere

These take two minutes on WhatsApp and rule out most of the people who should not be practising.

  1. Who will see me, and who trained them?
  2. How long is the session on the table, and what does it cost?
  3. Is there physical contact? Can I ask for none?
  4. Do I need to undress? (The correct answer is no.)
  5. Is the room private, with a door?
  6. I am under medical treatment. Is there anything to consider?
  7. What can Reiki not do?

The seventh is still the most revealing. Someone working honestly has a clear answer. Someone who gets uncomfortable is also answering you.

The full version is in how to choose a Reiki practitioner.

Red flags, anywhere in the city

  • Promises of cure. "This will take it away." The conversation ends there.
  • Pressure to buy packages of ten or twenty sessions paid upfront.
  • Charges that appear mid-session for an entity, a blockage or an attached energy.
  • Any comment about your medication. Nobody but your doctor discusses that.
  • Diagnoses. Reiki does not diagnose. If someone tells you what you have, leave.
  • Rooms without privacy: a curtain instead of a door, people passing, constant noise.
  • Discomfort with your questions. Asking is healthy. Irritation is the signal.

What to expect by neighbourhood

Honestly: the area changes the price, the atmosphere and the travel time. It does not change the quality of the work.

El Poblado. The most visible supply, the most online presence, and the most English-language service. Also where prices sit at the higher end of the range. If you live there or you are a foreigner, this is what you will find first.

Laureles and Estadio. Residential, many private practices in houses, a quieter feel and prices usually mid-range. One of the areas where people who dislike a commercial setting feel most at ease.

Envigado and Sabaneta. More domestic spaces and a closer relationship with the practitioner. Good balance of price and warmth. Account for avenue traffic at rush hour if you are coming from the north.

The east: Rionegro, Llanogrande, the altiplano. Another rhythm, another climate, more space. If you already live up there, no reason to come down to the valley. From the city it is a long trip that only pays off if the format justifies it.

Santa Elena. Not another city neighbourhood: mountain, cloud forest and cold air less than an hour from the centre. It changes the whole session. I tell it in Reiki in Santa Elena.

One warning that matters to me. If a website has a separate page for every neighbourhood in Medellín, the same text with the name swapped, it does not mean they have locations everywhere. It is an old SEO trick, and it says nothing good about whoever uses it.

In person, at home, or at a distance

Not everyone needs to leave the house.

In person. The most complete format. There is a prepared space, no interruptions, and you make a journey — physical and mental — to get there. That journey is part of the work.

At home. Convenient, especially with reduced mobility or after surgery. In exchange, the setting is not prepared: doorbells, pets, phones. Travel is charged.

At a distance. Useful if you live abroad, travel often, or cannot move. It needs an agreed time, a quiet place, and explicit consent from whoever receives. Nobody is ever worked on without their knowledge.

How we work at Sananda Reiki

Here is how it is with me, without adjectives.

I work from the lineage of Mikao Usui, and I bring into the session the accompaniment of the ascended masters, the archangels and the seven rays. I have been on this path for more than seventeen years. "Sananda" is the name of the Master of universal love, known to many as Jesus the Christ.

I receive people in Medellín and in Santa Elena, and I also work at a distance. Sessions can be held in English.

Every session begins with a conversation. I want to know why you came and what you hope for, and I want you to know exactly what will happen: where the hands rest, that your clothes stay on, and that you can ask me to stop at any moment.

We work with respect, listening and an integral view of the human being. Sessions are gentle, non-invasive and always complementary to conventional medical care.

And one thing I say in the first conversation, not the last: Reiki does not cure illness, does not replace any treatment, and does not guarantee results. It accompanies. It favours a state of calm. Many people describe relief and rest. That is what I can honestly offer.

I also do not practise everything. No family constellations, no biodecoding, no akashic records. If that is what you are looking for, I will say so and help you find your way.

The rest is in about Sananda Reiki, in terapias, and in what people who already came have said, in testimonios.

What actually decides it

After all of this, the conclusion is simpler than it looks.

In my practice I have met many people who had been elsewhere first. Almost none left because of technique. They left because they were not listened to, because too much was promised, or because the place did not give them peace.

Choose the place where you can ask an awkward question without feeling foolish. That is the criterion.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get Reiki in Medellín? In integrative therapy clinics, spas and wellness centres, holistic centres and private practices, plus distance sessions. There is supply in El Poblado, Laureles, Envigado, Sabaneta, Belén and the east. You can compare independently on directories such as Doctoralia or AgendaPro, and on Google Maps to see the actual space.

Are there Reiki practitioners in Medellín who work in English? Yes, mostly in El Poblado and Laureles, where the foreign population is larger. Confirm before booking, because it is not always advertised. At Sananda Reiki sessions can be held in English.

Is a large centre better than a private practice? It depends on what you value. A large centre offers more hours and more services; a private practice offers continuity with the same person and a closer relationship. The useful question is not the size of the place but who is seeing you and how they trained.

Do I need an appointment? In practice, yes. Reiki needs reserved time, unhurried and uninterrupted, and that cannot be improvised. The conversation beforehand is part of the session. Places that take walk-ins usually work with very short slots.

How do I know a place is serious if I have never been? Write first and ask three things: who will see you and where they trained, how long the session on the table is and what it costs, and what Reiki cannot do. The answers — and above all the tone they arrive in — will tell you almost everything before you set foot inside.

Can I bring someone with me the first time? Yes, and it is a completely normal request. You can ask for someone to wait outside, or for the door to stay ajar. A serious practitioner takes this as ordinary. If someone is bothered by it, you already know what you needed to know.

Reiki is a complementary practice: it accompanies, it does not substitute. If you are under medical or psychological care, continue it and talk to your treating professional before adding any complementary therapy.
